St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) is currently investigating a cyber attack that occurred before Christmas, although it may take some time to determine exactly what data was stolen.

The organisation stated that this process is complex and technical. In the event that sensitive information was compromised, SVHA is committed to contacting affected individuals, providing them with information on how to protect themselves, and supporting them throughout the process.

The Australian Cyber Security Coordinator, associated with Home Affairs, is also assisting in the investigation.

The Australian government, along with an external cyber security firm, is working with SVHA to expedite this investigation. SVHA has also engaged the services of CyberCX and government resources for remediation activities.

Despite network disruptions, SVHA is continuing to provide essential health services. The Australian Federal Police have initiated a criminal investigation into the incident.
