Microsoft is launching Copilot Studio, a cutting-edge toolchain for developing personalised AI assistants, entering its public preview phase in November. These "agents" can assume administrative roles, automating repetitive tasks and allowing employees to focus on more complex duties.
Imagine an AI that can respond to customer inquiries using existing website or company data, or one that can autonomously manage and resolve IT support tickets by understanding natural language and learning from past customer interactions. These AI assistants can even generate email responses contextually, streamline staff training, and maintain standard operating procedures.
Microsoft’s low-code Copilot Studio enables companies to create AI assistants with minimum programming knowledge. Additionally, pre-fabricated agents are available for clients.
A sales qualification agent capable of organizing opportunities, a supplier communications agent to streamline supply chains, and a customer intent agent to aid customer service employees are some of the fresh additions being introduced to Microsoft's Dynamics 365 service.
Notable companies have already benefited from Copilot agents. Thomson Reuters halved the time for legal due diligence tasks, McKinsey & Company slashed client onboarding times by 90%, while Pets at Home forecasts millions in savings with a profit protection AI.
However, this innovative leap has drawn criticism from rivals, with Salesforce's CEO, Marc Benioff, challenging Copilot's ability to meet customer expectations. Only time will reveal whether Copilot's flight will soar to new heights or crash-land into an AI dystopian future.
