Ticketek says a “cyber incident” may have exposed its customers’ names, dates of birth and email addresses.

The ticketing company said in a statement that data from Ticketek Australia account holders stored on a cloud-based platform by a global third-party supplier had been affected.

“Since our third-party supplier brought this to our attention, over the past few days we have worked diligently to put every resource into completing an investigation, so that we can communicate with you as quickly as possible,” Ticketek said in an email sent to some of its customers.

Ticketek has advised the National Office of Cyber Security that they have experienced a cyber security incident impacting Ticketek Australia, and data belonging to their customers has been stolen.

Minister for Cyber Security Clare O’Neil said on X that the National Office of Cyber Security had been informed by Ticketek Australia that “data belonging to their customers has been stolen”.

The information known so far indicates that this is a breach potentially affecting many Australians, but the data is likely limited to names, dates of births, and email addresses, O’Neil also posted.

“Ticketek have assured Australian account holders that their passwords and credit card information have not been compromised,” she also wrote.
