Popstar Taylor Swift, has fallen victim to explicit AI-generated images circulating on social media platforms. The widespread dissemination of these deepfakes has prompted a call for stricter regulations surrounding the misuse of AI, specifically in cases of sexual harassment.

Social media sites such as Reddit and Facebook were inundated with these falsified images, causing significant concern among users.

Within a span of approximately 17 hours, one image of the superstar garnered a staggering 47 million views on the platform X before it was finally taken down.

The Reality Defender group, dedicated to combating deepfakes, discovered numerous unique images that reached millions of people online before their removal.

OpenAI, the company behind platforms like ChatGPT, claims to have implemented safeguards to prevent the creation of harmful content. They explicitly state that they decline requests for generating content featuring public figures, including Taylor Swift. X banned searches for Taylor Swift and any related queries. Instagram and Threads, while allowing searches for Swift, display a warning message when specifically searching for the images.

Microsoft, which provides an image-generator tool called DALL-E, announced that it is currently investigating whether its technology was misused in the creation of these deepfake images.
