Godfather of AI Quits Google

Renowned British computer scientist, Geoffrey Hinton - dubbed the "Godfather of AI" - has resigned from Google in fear that his life's work on artificial intelligence could lead to smarter-than-human killer robots. 

Geoffrey Hinton, 75, the head of the Google Brain research department and the recipient of a Turing Award, revealed his concern over the possible ultimate outcomes of his pioneering work.

His decision allows him to speak more freely about these potential dangers and he now partly regrets contributing so heavily into this field. 

He is worried by implications such as malicious actors exploiting bots for illegal activities or humans not being able to decipher real news due to AI generated content flooding the internet. He remarked: “I’ve come to realise what kind of intelligence we are developing here is very different than our own."
