Queensland MP Calls Upon eSafety To Take Action Against “Criminal Posts" And Have Them Taken Down ASAP

In a move to combat the disturbing trend of youths live-streaming criminal activities on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, a new private member's bill was unveiled in the House of Representatives on Monday. 

The bill aims to put an end to carjackings, house burglaries, and other crimes being broadcasted for the world to see. Liberal minister Garth Hamilton, an advocate for safe communities, took a strong stance in parliament, calling for immediate action and demanding justice for those affected. The Online Safety Act  is set to give Commissioner Julie Inman Grant more power to tackle the trend of "glamorised" offenses online. 

If passed, the bill would enable Grant to respond to complaints with the same vigor as those regarding cyberbullying or non-consensual sharing of intimate images. 

Under the Online Safety Act, companies and individuals may be slapped with hefty fines if they fail to comply with Grant's removal notices. This development is a major step forward in creating a safer online environment for everyone.
