The venture is designed to provide real time responses to user inquiries on news and current events, marking Meta's first news partnership in several years. 

The move comes as Meta reduces news content on its platforms, including Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram, following regulatory and publisher criticism. 

The specifics of the deal remain confidential, but Reuters will receive compensation under a multi-year agreement. 

The partnership allows Meta's AI to respond to news-related inquiries with Reuters content summaries and links, similar to arrangements other companies have established with news outlets.
