In a recent development, US President Donald Trump suggested that tech giant Microsoft might be interested in acquiring TikTok, sparking speculation of a potential bidding war for the popular social media app.

Apparently, it's not the first time Microsoft has shown interest. The company emerged as a leading contender during the app's first divestment push, only for discussions to fall apart later. TikTok, which enjoys a substantial user base of about 170 million in the US, faced a brief hiatus earlier this month due to concerns regarding national security.

Following his inauguration, Trump signed an executive order delaying the enforcement of a law, which required TikTok's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell or face banning.

President Trump also noted he was considering various potential buyers for TikTok, even suggesting Tesla CEO Elon Musk as a viable prospect.
