European regulators are seeking input from users and competitors regarding whether Microsoft's Bing and Apple's iMessage should comply with new tech rules.
These inquiries are part of investigations conducted by the European Commission to determine if Bing, Edge, Microsoft Advertising, and iMessage should be subject to the Digital Markets Act.
This Act requires major tech companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, Meta Platforms, and ByteDance to allow third-party apps and app stores on their platforms and make it easier for users to switch between default apps and competitors.
Questionnaires have been sent out to assess the importance of these services and how they fit into the companies' ecosystems, as well as the number of users using them. Respondents have been given a short window to provide feedback, and the Commission aims to complete its investigation within five months.
