Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, has agreed to pay $8 million over allegations of using deceptive advertisements to market its Pixel 4 smartphone, according to reports. The settlement comes amid increased attention and scrutiny by the US federal government and state attorneys general over claims of antitrust and consumer protection violations.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton accused the tech giant of hiring radio announcers to give false testimonials about the phone and the settlement holds the company accountable for deceiving Texans for financial gain.
