AI industry leaders, including OpenAI, Alphabet, and Meta Platforms, have voluntarily pledged to the White House to implement important measures, such as watermarking AI-generated content, in order to enhance the safety of this technology. President Joe Biden has acknowledged these commitments as a promising step towards progress, while emphasising the need for continued collective efforts.

During a recent White House event, President Biden expressed concerns about the potential disruptions caused by artificial intelligence, highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant against emerging technological threats to U.S. democracy.

This development is considered a victory for the Biden administration's push to regulate the booming AI industry, which has gained significant investment and consumer interest.

In comparison, the United States is lagging behind the European Union in terms of addressing AI regulation. In June, EU lawmakers reached a consensus on a set of draft rules that would require AI systems, such as ChatGPT, to disclose their AI-generated content, differentiate deep-fake images from real ones, and establish safeguards against illegal content.
